On successful completion and submission of the application, the applicant will receive a confirmation number. Applicants need to note down and keep this number safe. This confirmation number is proof of having submitted an application for the green card lottery, and it is also used to track the status of the application. When the results are announced, the applicant can use this number on the government website to check his/her application status.
